"Basketball is like jazz, you know? You're kind of... dupee-doo, dupee-do, dupee-dah" - Michael Scott
Basketball really is a beautiful game. As such, it only makes sense to combine the sport of basketball with the physical medium of art. Cleveland-based Double Scribble has been my daily stop for basketball art for a while now, but now, for the first time ever, they're getting some of the best basketball artists from around the world together for a gallery show that will be taking place right here in beautiful Cleveland, Ohio.
Starting on October 20th, BUCKBUCK gallery in Cleveland, Ohio, will be home to ART OF THE GAME: a celebration of art & basketball. Even better, some of the proceeds from the show will be donated to Pathway: Caring for Children a charity for foster care and adoption services. Vintage t-shirt designers HOMAGE and the Cleveland Cavaliers themselves have donated goods for a raffle that will also be going to Pathway.
If you'd like to be a part of the show, submissions are still being accepted through October 14th. Further information for show submissions can be requested by emailing buckbuckcle@gmail.com. You can also send digital submissions straight to Double Scribble themselves by emailing them at doublescribbleusa@gmail.com.
As someone who has had the pleasure of meeting Mike and buying an awesome Kyrie Irving painting from him, I'm super excited for this show. I'm familiar with quite a few of the artists whose work will be on exhibit, and know that this will be an incredibly cool, incredibly unique event. We here in Cleveland are lucky to have such talented people doing such cool stuff in town, so please, make it a point to come out and check out the show while it's here. It's really going to be something.
Starting on Saturday, October 21st, 4-11PM
