Your favorite point guard in the NBA, Kyrie Irving, won the NBA's Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month Award for the third time for March today the league office announced.
Sacramento's Isaiah Thomas won the Western Conference Rookie of the Month, the second time he had won it this season.
Irving beat out fellow Eastern Conference nominees for the trophy in Charlotte's Kemba Walker, Detroit's Brandon Knight and New Jersey's MarShon Brooks.
For March, Irving led all rookies in scoring, fourth quarter scoring and assists, was second in FT%. He had a career-high 12 assists in a road victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on March 9.
In his rookie year Irving is averaging 18.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game to go along with a shooting slash line of an impressive .471/.418/.872.
The Cavaliers open April with a home game Tuesday against San Antonio before heading to Milwaukee on Wednesday evening. They follow that up with key road games at Toronto and New Jersey on the weekend. As noted earlier, Irving is out of the lineup with a shoulder injury but will return soon
