The Cavaliers have a lot of decisions to make this off-season. Who do they draft? What key free agents do they target? And finally, the point of this series, who from this current squad to they bring back? Today, we tackle the Cavaliers leading scorer over the past two seasons, Mr. Veteran Leadership himself, Antawn Jamison.
Alright, from the sounds of it, Antawn's already made up his mind to not return in the off-season. And while Cavs fans don't seem to worked up over his announcement, the fact remains, it looks likely that the Cavaliers are going to lose their leading scorer in the post-LeBron James era. And think about it, even with Antawn Jamison out there putting up 20+ points a night, the Cavaliers still managed towards the end of the season to get blown out by 20+. Imagine if he wasn't there on those nights. It's not a pretty thought.
Maybe there is a case for the Cavaliers to try to hold on to Jamison. I mean, without his monster $15M contract and some limited minutes, maybe Jamison could be worked into this team. If he was coming off the bench behind Tristan Thompson and on a veteran minimum contract, maybe it would make sense.
And so, with that thought in mind, allow me to make a case for the Cavaliers to keep Antawn Jamison after the break...
I just can't do it. I just can't. It doesn't make any sense. I'm sorry 'Tawn, you're a good dude, but please, take your talents elsewhere. I can't watch your brand of "defense" anymore. I can't watch you chuck up a contested jumper the moment the ball's in your hand one more time. I've been pushed to the brink. I can't do it. Crafting an argument to keep you on the Cavaliers requires a type of mental wankery that I'm not sure even the Chuckster could achieve with the aid of a Shake Weight.
Yup, it's impossible. Tell me I'm wrong. I dare you
