Remember when we thought that the Cavaliers had signed Alonzo Gee, like a month ago? Well there were reports of it, but then we heard nothing from the team. On Monday, the Cavs and Chris Grant finally acknowledged the re-signing of Gee, as announced by the Cavs official website.
"From the start of free agency, we made it clear that re-signing Alonzo was important to us and we’re happy we’ve been able to do that," Grant said. "Alonzo has worked very hard to make the most of the opportunities he has had thus far and it has been great to see his development and growth as a Cavalier. We’re excited he will be part of our team as our young group of players continues to grow together."
The terms of the contract are unknown, but the initial reports indicated that he was getting around 3 years/$10 million. It's my impression that there were some snags in the deal, but the framework had been in place. Regardless, Gee will be back with the Cavaliers next season and projects to be the starting small forward on Opening Night.
