The Cavs opened the second half with a 10-2 run to jump out to an early second half lead, then the second unit put it out of reach with an 8-0 run early in the 4th quarter to give the Cavaliers a 118-94 win.
They've has been playing very well recently, having won 8 of their past 13 games. Tyler Zeller was probably tonight's MVP with 16 points, including 12 in the third quarter, and seven rebounds. Zeller and Marreese Speights combined for 27 second half points. The Cavaliers' starters did not play at all in the fourth quarter.
The bench was really the story. Speights finished with 18, C.J. Miles scored 16, and Wayne Ellington dropped 15. That's the first time this season where the Cavaliers have had three bench players score 15 points, which is a really good sign for this team's immediate future.
Kyrie Irving had a rough night by his standards, only scoring 12 points on 4-10 shooting. Dion Waiters also had a very Waiters-ian night with 12 points on 16 shots. Hopefully that will be adjusted before tomorrow when the Cavaliers travel to Miami to face the Heat. However, the Cavaliers did not need either of them tonight, so all is forgiven. Seven Cavaliers total scored in double figures.
Highlights of the night for the Magic included Tobias Harris scoring 14 points in his debut, Arron Afflalo scoring an efficient 16, and the DJ at the Amway Center playing a collection of awesome early 2000s rap music.
