Nobody knew what the Cavs were going to do with the pick until David Stern announced it. Most mock drafts had the Cavs deciding between Nerlens Noel and Alex Len, but going with Anthony Bennett is a total shock. Nobody had the Cavs taking Bennett, but this isn't the first time that Chris Grant has surprised us. In the past two drafts, the Cavs took Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters when nobody expected them.
Bennett is a bit undersized and is working on recovering from shoulder surgery. He spent one year at UNLV and was an explosive offensive talent. He averaged 15.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. There are questions about how he will defend at the next level, but if Mike Brown believes he can get him to play defense, then the pick works.
I'm not exactly sure how Bennett fits next to Tristan Thompson and Anderson Varejao in the front court, but he's definitely an exciting offensive talent.
Welcome to the Cavs, Anthony Bennett!
