Cavaliers make deal with Andrew Bynum official on Thursday in press conference

The Cavaliers are finally introducing the biggest addition to their team this offseason.

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Cavaliers agreed to a deal with Andrew Bynum quite a while ago. We know the basic outline of the deal and we know that it is a 2 year deal worth up to $24 million with a team option on the second year. We also know that the Cavaliers are only guaranteeing roughly $6 million in salary. However, the deal will not be made official until Thursday.

*UPDATE*

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, there will NOT be a press conference for Andrew Bynum on Thursday.

There are no problems, one source said Wednesday, but arrangements cannot be completed by Thursday. As of Wednesday evening, no press conference has been scheduled.

So...I guess that means ignore all of this? I'll try to get confirmation by the Cavs and find out what's actually going on.

------------------------

The Cavaliers held a press conference for Jarrett Jack and Earl Clark just a few days after they agreed to a deal with Bynum, but the specific details of Bynum's contract had obviously not been worked out in time. Therefore, Andrew Bynum will get his own special press conference on Thursday.

I'm not sure exactly what time that press conference will be, but we'll keep you updated as soon as we find out. I know you're all anxious to see what Bynum says about being in the Cavaliers organization. Furthermore, it will be quite interesting to see what Chris Grant has to say about Bynum's health and what Mike Brown says about how Bynum fits with the rest of the roster.

The good news is that nothing funky has happened in the past two weeks to make either party want to back out of this deal. And none of the details have changed as far as we know. The Cavs are still only on the hook for $6 million in guaranteed money.
