Kyrie Irving will not play against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night. He remains out with a left knee contusion that he suffered against the Indiana Pacers earlier in the week. Irving will not travel with the team and will stay in Cleveland to receive treatment on the knee.
The Cavs' official press release didn't provide much insight. It doesn't say anything about the injury getting worse, he's just not ready to play yet.
Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving will not travel with the team to Brooklyn today and is listed as Out for tomorrow night's game in Brooklyn vs. the Nets. He will remain in Cleveland for additional treatment at Cleveland Clinic Courts. His status will be updated as appropriate.
It's unfortunate that Kyrie is missing such winnable games, but this is probably the right decision if we're thinking longterm. There's no reason to risk Kyrie's health for a game against the Nets in January.
