Heading into training camp, there weren't many questions for the Cleveland Cavaliers in terms of who would start. Most assumed that Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, LeBron James, Kevin Love, and Anderson Varejao would all get the first shot if healthy.
Despite the fact that most people are of the opinion that Varejao is better than Tristan Thompson, who has spent the last two seasons starting at power forward, there was talk of Thompson starting in his place. Thompson has been durable, and Varejao is getting a little bit older and has had trouble staying healthy. My view was always that there would be plenty of ways to manage Varejao's minutes while still letting him start.
No word on how Blatt will manage anyone's minutes, but it does appear that Varejao will start the season in the starting lineup:
Blatt says Varejao will start at C to begin the season. Tristan off the bench.

Tristan Thompson is still likely to get a lot of minutes. Hopefully he sees time with Irving or James, because I think he's more dependent on players than can help him score. I still would like to see Varejao and Love's minutes staggered a bit, as well. Blatt has a lot of options. It will be interesting to see how this goes.
