Maccabi Tel Aviv at Cleveland Cavaliers game thread: David Blatt meets former team

The Cavaliers kick off their preseason at home. Come hang out.

Well here we are. The Cavaliers officially get their first preseason with LeBron James back in the fold underway tonight. They don't play an NBA team, but that doesn't mean they won't face a stiff test. New head coach David Blatt's debut comes against the Israeli team he left, Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Maccabi employs Jeremy Pargo and Josef Forte, the former North Carolina Tar Heel. But really, you are watching because of the Cavaliers. Blatt announced before the game that Tristan Thompson will start at center next to Kevin Love. Time will tell if that holds up over the course of the preseason, but it seems like the Cavs want to limit Anderson Varejao's minutes.

I'm covering the game live at the Q and will try and bring some insight after the game and in the coming days. There is a lot of Israeli media here to cover both Blatt and Maccabi. It's pretty fun.

Hang out here to discuss the game.
