The Cleveland Cavaliers are title contenders. It's crazy, but it's true. The summer of 2014 was wild, and it saw the return of LeBron James and the arrival of Kevin Love. But the insanity of the last three months was preceded by ... insanity over the previous 12 months. I don't need to document it all. Mike Brown got hired back on. Mike Brown got fired again. Andrew Bynum. Jarrett Jack. Kyrie and Dion hated each other and then didn't. Anthony Bennett.
Anyway, it was crazy enough that the idea of writing a book about it bounced around the email inboxes of Cavs bloggers over the last four or five months. And you know what? We are going to do it. Ben Cox of Waiting For Next Year, and sometimes this site, has helped do a lot of the organizing. Here's what he has to say about it, and you should read his whole summation of the state of the Cavs, and the project, over at WFNY:
The Season of Huh is going to be collection of essays covering all the weird ins and outs of the last fifteen months of Cavalier fandom. From the return of Mike Brown to the return of King James, I can think of no more bizarre a ride. From the promise of opening night to losing to a Laker team with only four eligible players… we needed this to be documented. It was too weird to not write a book, quite frankly."
Fear the Sword will be heavily involved. I am writing a chapter and will help edit it as well. Justin Rowan has contributed a chapter. Sam Vecenie, a Fear the Sword alum, has written a chapter on Chris Grant. I've been able to read a few of the selections, and they are all fantastic. Details are still being ironed out, but you will be able to get the e-book for under $10. We will also be printing a paperback. When the ordering information is finalized, you guys will know about it.
We couldn't believe the amount of support for CavsZine, but this is unique in its own right. I mean, it's an actual book. Look for more information right around opening night. Another thing worth noting: Waiting for Next Year, Fear the Sword, Stepien Rules, Cavs: the Blog, Hardwood Paroxysm and Real Cavs Fans all have guys contributing to this. It's pretty cool that we all get along. This could be really special.
