Kyrie Irving out vs. Pistons

Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving will miss today's game vs. the Detroit Pistons.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving will miss today's game vs. the Detroit Pistons today as he continues to recover from a left knee contusion. Irving, who was hurt in Cleveland's Christmas Day loss against the Miami Heat, also missed Friday's game against the Orlando Magic.

Irving's injury occurred on the same knee that he hurt earlier this season against the Oklahoma City Thunder. For the season, Irving is averaged 20.2 points and 5.3 assists per game. He is also shooting 47 percent from the field and 27.4 percent from 3-point range. Matthew Dellavedova, who started against the Magic, will likely start in Irving's place.
