A couple of days after audio recordings of Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling surfaced, the Cleveland Cavaliers have released a statement. The reaction to Sterling's racist comments was immediate, but it has taken time for other NBA owners to get their viewpoints out in the open. On Monday night, owner Dan Gilbert and the organization gave their thoughts. Naturally, they side with every other rational person in American when they say that Donald Sterling's racist remarks were ridiculous and unacceptable.
Here is the statement from Dan Gilbert and the Cavs in its entirety:
"It is shocking that anyone could hold the kind of offensive and feeble minded views that are being attributed allegedly to the Clippers owner, Donald Sterling. The diverse staff members of the Cleveland Cavaliers franchise are unified in encouraging Commissioner Silver and the NBA to respond with swift and appropriate action consistent with a strong zero tolerance approach to this type of reprehensible behavior."
Pretty predictable response from Dan Gilbert, but it's good to hear. We'll see what the NBA decides to do going forward.
