Reports had surfaced early today suggesting that David Blatt had emerged as the front-runner for the vacant head coaching position. Of course when there's NBA news to be broken, there's usually one man you can count on -- Adrian Wojnarowski:

This deal would make the Euroleague legend the first coach to move directly from Europe to the NBA. The terms of the deal are still being negotiated at the time of this post, but the details should follow before the day is over unless a unforeseen setback occurred.
It was reported earlier that the Cavaliers were still making calls to Europe today in order to gather more intel on David Blatt before making their decision between he and Tyronn Lue. Compared to the coaching search conducted last season by the team, this certainly feels like a more thorough and inspired effort. Of course how Blatt will mesh with this roster remains to be seen, but he certainly seems more than qualified for the job. If you haven't already, I would suggest checking out this insightful fanpost that provided an interesting look at what Blatt brings to the table.
Of course, we will provide more information on this story as it becomes available.
