The Cleveland Cavaliers had narrowed their head coaching search down to David Blatt and Tyronn Lue. In the end, they tabbed Blatt as the next head coach of the Cavs. But it turns out that Lue will also be on the sidelines in Cleveland this season, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
Los Angeles Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue has accepted associate head coach job with Cleveland, sources tell Yahoo.

Blatt will continue to round out his coaching staff as the offseason goes on, but it's extremely impressive that the Cavs were able to get Lue to join the staff despite not getting the head coaching job. This means that Lue opted to join the Cavs as the associate head coach rather than stay in Los Angeles and work with Doc Rivers. It also seems that the reports about the Cavs having such a toxic reputation due to Dan Gilbert were a bit overblown. Two very well respected coaches have signed on to lead Cleveland in the past week.
By all accounts, Lue is a very impressive basketball mind and will garner a good deal of respect from the players. It seems like the Cavs got the best of both worlds here. They will now have the tactical Xs & Os expertise from Blatt as well as a former player who will be able to relate to the players and have a better sense of the culture of a successful NBA team.
