The Cleveland Cavaliers announced their 2014 Las Vegas Summer League roster today in a press release. Headlining the roster is No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins, second round pick Joe Harris and last years No. 1 overall pick, Anthony Bennett. The team will be coached by David Blatt, the Cavaliers' new head coach.
The Cavs’ full roster is as follows:
F Anthony Bennett, No. 15
G Will Cherry, No. 56
F/C Jack Cooley, No. 45
G Matthew Dellavedova, No. 8
F Shane Edwards, No. 57
G/F Carrick Felix, No. 30
G Steven Gray, No. 41
G Joe Harris, No. 12
G Scotty Hopson, No. 24
G/F Sergey Karasev, No. 10
C Alex Kirk, No. 53
G/F Andrew Wiggins, No. 21
This roster is interesting for a variety of reasons. For starters, it will be Wiggins’ first action in Cavs uniform and Blatt’s debut. Although Blatt won’t have the whole roster at his disposal, he may tip his hat as to what kind of schemes he will run next season. It will also be Bennett’s first ever summer league action, as he missed last year’s summer league due to shoulder surgery, and should serve decent gauge of where is at physically.
Nothing has been announced, but a possibly starting lineup would be Dellavedova at the point, Wiggins at the two, Karasev at the three, Bennett at the four and Kirk at the five. The Cavaliers’ first game is Friday at 8 p.m. versus a Milwaukee Bucks team headlined by Jabari Parker.
