The full NBA schedule will be announced tomorrow at 6 pm ET on NBA TV, but details are already starting to trickle out. According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Cavaliers will play on Christmas day in Miami.
The NBA will announce Wednesday that LeBron James will play his first game in Miami since returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Christmas Day, according to sources briefed on the league's new schedule.
Sources told ESPN.com that the NBA's 2014-15 schedule -- which will be released in full Wednesday at 6 p.m. in an NBA TV special -- predictably sends James back to South Beach to face Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and the rest of the Miami Heat on the marquee date of the league's regular-season calendar after James' decision last month to re-sign with his home-state Cavaliers.
This makes a ton of sense, of course. LeBron James won two titles in Miami, and went to the Finals four times. The NBA puts its marquee teams on television for Christmas day, one of the most fun days of the year for NBA fans. You get presents AND you get to watch awesome teams play. Are they wearing awful jerseys usually? Sure, but you live with that.
For Cavaliers fans, this is pretty exciting. It's but another sign of the Cavaliers fast rise from disappointing also-ran back to the top of the NBA. We don't know if LeBron and company can bring a title to Cleveland just yet, but they sure will be relevant.
