Cavs expect Tristan Thompson at camp Friday

One way or another, the Cavs expect Tristan Thompson at training camp tomorrow.

With Tristan Thompson near his deadline to sign his qualifying offer, the Cleveland Cavaliers expect him at practice tomorrow one way or another.

"We fully expect that tomorrow he will be here in some form or fashion," Cavaliers GM David Griffin said during NBA TV's broadcast of Thursday's training camp. "We're hopeful that he wants to move forward with his teammates in the same way that we want to have Tristan here. If we can come to some agreement, then we will."

Thompson has until midnight tonight to sign a qualifying offer worth $6.9 million. If the deadline passes, he can still sign a longterm deal, but loses a lot of leverage with the qualifying offer off the table. The Cavs and Thompson are still seemingly far apart on a new deal, with Thompson seeking a max deal and the Cavs reportedly increasing their offer, but not offering the full max - worth roughly $94 million - Thompson is seeking.
