J.R. Smith leaves game with Sixers after knee contusion

Well this isn't ideal

Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

J.R. Smith hasn't played well since at least the Atlanta Hawks Eastern Conference Finals series, and the bad luck continues for him. After dealing with a hamstring issue for most of training camp, he left Monday night's game with the Philadelphia 76ers, and will not return, per the Cavs.

Smith provides spacing and decent defense when he's comfortable and focused, but hasn't been able to get his shot going and continues to foul in baffling ways. It might not mean much long term - we've seen him play very well in a Cavs uniform in the past. This could very well just be a speed bump. We will keep you updated moving forward on what the word is on his injury and what effect it may have moving forward.

In the meantime, Matthew Dellavedova and Jared Cunningham would appear to be in line for more minutes. Time till tell how that goes.
