Be still my beating heart...
The Cleveland Cavaliers are off to a very good start to this season and are implementing a more motion based offense which creates open shots and lanes to cut to the basket. With all the fun they are having on the court, I can't help but think of the one player that would fit in really well into this kind of system. A certain 23 year old star that can shoot from anywhere, play on and off ball and has a handle that just makes people look silly.
That's right, I miss Kyrie Irving.
There is good news for people like me: we're going to see more of him soon! ESPN's Dave McMennamin announced that the new Uncle Drew episode will be dropping this Thursday, and he also teased at a little more than that:
The next Uncle Drew commercial drops Nov. 12. The Cavs play NYK at MSG the next day. Connecting dots here, but Kyrie could be back very soon— Dave McMenamin (@mcten) November 9, 2015
Now, I'm going to temper my excitement and still expect Kyrie to be another couple weeks away from returning. But there was talk that he could be ready to play by this week if he pushed his rehab. I still think both the Cavs and Irving go the conservative route. But I wouldn't put it past Irving, a player that doesn't shy away from putting on a show, to make a dramatic return at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks.
But even if he doesn't play, it will be fun to see him play some pick up ball in his newest commercial. For those wondering, the commercial was filmed in late September.
