According to Cavaliers head coach David Blatt, both Kyrie Irving and Iman Shumpert could return on the Cavs' upcoming road trip. Cleveland plays the Orlando Magic tomorrow and the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. Both Irving and Shumpert went through a full practice and will accompany the team on the trip.
According to Blatt, how Irving and Shumpert feel following Friday's practice could determine their availability. At this point, both Irving and Shumpert have gone through three full practices and typically that is when players return back to game action.
"It's a day to day thing with both of them," Blatt said after practice today. "We kind of like to let them get through the practice, then the next morning gauge how they're feeling. And then just go from there."
Although Irving will return to his starting guard spot, it is unclear if Shumpert will start at shooting guard upon his return.
Irving and Shumpert - or even just one - returning to the Cavs on this road trip would be huge to say the least. At 14-7, the Cavs are the top team in the Eastern Conference, but haven't yet played up to the level that many had expected them to.
"[Irving and Shumpert] give us a real boost, a real short in the arm," Blatt said. "We're playing short handed and asking a lot of other guys."
