The Cavs held on for a win on Sunday afternoon over the Philadelphia 76ers, and it might end up having playoff implications. The Cavs are now 2 1/2 games up on the Chicago Bulls for the second seed and homecourt advantage of a possible second round matchup with said Bulls. With a game against the Bulls a week from today, a loss might have given the Bulls an opening to catch the Wine and Gold.
Of #Cavs 8 remaining games, 6 are at home and they will play 6 teams in playoff contention: v Mia, & Chi, @ Mil, @ & v Bos + v Wash— Daryl Ruiter (@RuiterWrongFAN) March 29, 2015
The Cavs have just seven games remaining now, but as Ruiter points out, six will be against teams who have a lot to play for. They'll be at home for a lot of these games, where they've won their last 16 games. In short, Cleveland has a great chance to get the second seed, but they haven't wrapped it up just yet. The Bulls are relatively healthy now. If the season ended today the Cavs would play the Miami Heat in the first round. If Dwyane Wade and Hassan Whiteside are healthy, that might be less fun than we'd want. Things at the bottom of the East seem to be fluid.
We will see.
