It was a bumpy road. We didn't know how Kevin Love would fit. We didn't know how Kyrie Irving and LeBron James would fit. We thought three superstars would make it easy.
It wasn't. Anderson Varejao got hurt. Dion Waiters didn't take a step. The Cavs relied on Shawn Marion to play shooting guard. LeBron James himself didn't look otherworldly the first two weeks. The Cavs were 19-20. It wasn't all bad. The Cavs were always really good with their Big 3 and Tristan. There wasn't depth, but it was clear the Cavs had the pieces to add it. J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert, and Timo Mozgov were more than anyone could have wanted.
But it was really about LeBron being LeBron. How did he come back? Why did he come back? He answered that question.
"I'm a guy who believes in unfinished business."
He knows what a title would mean to Cleveland. The Warriors, and Rockets, are very good. Who knows if it happens. But they'll get a shot, and it's because James came home.
