In one of the least surprising, never in doubt moves of the offseason, the Cleveland Cavaliers have exercised their team option on the final year of center Timofey Mozgov's contract. Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders was the first to report the news, while ESPN's Brian Windhorst also reported that the Cavs had picked up Mozogv's option. A press release formally announcing the move should follow soon.

Cavs have officially picked up Timofey Mozgov's option next season for $5 million. (@EricPincus noted first).

Mozgov, 28, averaged what would be career highs in both points and field goal percentage in his 46 games with the Cavaliers last year. The 7'2 Russian was a lynch-pin in their postseason defense and averaged 10.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game in the playoffs. Getting him for only $4.9 Million next season is one of the better values in basketball.
