The Cleveland Cavaliers can offer Kevin Love the most money, and, in all likelihood, the best chance at winning. It's unclear if that will be enough. While reports trickled in today that the Cavs were confident in retaining Love's services, and that the rest of the NBA wasn't optimistic about their chances, there is a ray of hope for the Los Angeles Lakers. If Chris Broussard is to be believed, the Lakers have secured a meeting with the power forward.
Sources: Lakers have spoken with reps for Kevin Love & a meeting this week is planned.

The Lakers aren't particularly close to competing, but with Kobe Bryant on his way out, Kevin Love would be the face of the franchise in just a short amount of time. The offense would run through him. His girlfriend lives and works there. he spends much of his offseason there. He went to UCLA. He also said this year he didn't see a way he would end up playing for the Lakers next year.
So, we will see. It'd be great if Love just accepted a five year maximum deal from the Cavs at midnight. Things aren't usually that easy, though. The good news, at this hour, is that the Celtics are still waiting to find out if they'll get a meeting.
With Brad Stevens and Danny Ainge, the Celtics might be able to put together an appealing meeting about Love running their offense as a point forward. If they don't get a meeting, you'd think that helps the Cavs situation. The Boston Celtics are still awaiting word on whether they'll get a meeting with Cleveland free agent Kevin Love, league source tells Yahoo.
