LeBron James scored more points than he ever has in the NBA Finals. The Cavs got more out of Kyrie Irving than they could have expected. Draymond Green found himself in foul trouble, and Tristan Thompson and Timofey Mozgov controlled the boards.
The Warriors took Game 1, 108-100.
This was a road game in the NBA Finals against a team that won 67 games. Irving played through injury and was huge. LeBron finished with 44 points, eight rebounds and six assists. He was incredible. The Cavs didn't get a ton from Iman Shumpert or J.R. Smith in this game, and they need every ounce of basketball skill they can get. Steph Curry started slow, but was ultimately good. The Warriors got incredible performances from Marreese Speights and then Andre Iguodala.
I don't know how much or how little of this game was sustainable or not. But the Cavs need Kyrie Irving, and he doesn't look good. Both teams have to get to four wins, and there is now one in the Warriors pocket. More to come.
