The Cavs are close to adding another player to their bench next season, with ESPN's Marc Stein reporting that the team is bringing in veteran swingman Richard Jefferson.
Another curveball in Mavs' offseason: Hearing that vet swingman Richard Jefferson, thought to be staying in Dallas, now signing with Cavs
— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) July 21, 2015
Jefferson, 35, averaged almost 6 points per game in 16 minutes a night with the Mavericks last season. He's not much more than passable on both ends of the ball, but he shot 42% from 3, is a smart player, and can still do this from time to time:
It's not a sexy pick up, but there are much worse options for short term help until the Cavs can use Brendan Haywood's salary (or resulting trade exception) to find more of an impact wing player off the bench. The Cavs signed Shawn Marion away from the Mavericks last season. Time will tell how this small forward from Dallas works out.
