Cleveland Cavaliers come in at No. 2 in ESPN's power rankings

The Cavs are ranked No. 2 in ESPN's first power rankings of the season.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

ESPN's Marc Stein today released his first set of power rankings for the year and the Cleveland Cavaliers came in at No. 2 overall. The Golden State Warriors, who beat the Cavs in the 2015 NBA Finals, came in at No. 1.

Here's what Stein wrote about the Cavs:

The NBA Finals don't start for another 250 days, but I can't find a soul who thinks LeBron James and his Cavs won't be in them. Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and Anderson Varejao can all take it slow on their respective comeback trails if necessary, because there's not even a clear-cut No. 2 in the East to give 'em a push.

The San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder round out the top-five. The Atlanta Hawks, who come in at No. 9, are the highest ranked Eastern Conference after the Cavs.
