Report: LeBron James to sit out vs. Pacers

It’ll be the first game James misses on the year

NBA: Toronto Raptors at Cleveland Cavaliers Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

According to Chris Haynes of ESPN.com, Cavaliers star LeBron James will sit out Wednesday night’s game with the Indiana Pacers. James is not hurt, but instead will get a night off to rest. Coming off a hard-fought home win against the Toronto Raptors, it makes sense for James to rest on the second night of a back-to-back. So far this season, the Cavs have been able to manage James’ minutes. He has yet to record over 40 minutes in a game.

In the past, James has said that nights off are perhaps better for him in terms of freshness than managing minutes because he has to go through the process of getting ready to play regardless. If the Cavs can get him time off and keep his minutes low, all the better.

While this is a nice opportunity for the Cavs to try and show they can win without James, it probably isn’t worth getting excited about either way. Tonight’s game would have likely been close coming off the win Tuesday night even with LeBron James. I’m sure people will get their Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love hot takes in either way.
