Early next year, a biopic about Matthew Dellavedova will go into production. And yes, you read that right.

According to Fox Sports Australia, a feature film is being made about Delly’s life, his path to the NBA and his title win last year with the Cavs. The movie purportedly considered by an uplifting movie in the veins of Hoosiers and Rocky - two of the best sports movies ever made. Dellavedova will also be an executive producer on the project.

From their report:

Dellavedova and his Australian manager, Bruce Kaider, have joined with Los Angeles based producers, Zachary Green and Jason Shuman, to develop and produce a feature film based on the Milwaukee Bucks guard’s life and career.

The film will centre around Dellavedova’s struggles growing up in country Victoria, and his unlikely path to the NBA, where he won the 2015 NBA Championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“I am honoured that Bruce, Zachary and Jason think enough about my journey to turn it into a feature film,” Dellavedova said.

Trying to make a Delly biopic - especially considering he’s still an active NBA player - seems a bit crazy. A day ago, he’d be way down the list of players likely to get movie made about them. But hey, someone wants to make it. And maybe more importantly, who is going to play J.R. Smith?
