With his first basket in Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, LeBron James has become one of the NBA’s top-10 scorers ever, passing former Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon.
James passed Olajuwon with a layup at the 6:02 mark of the first quarter. Back in 2005, when James became the fastest player to score 25,000 points, he also did so in Philadelphia against the 76ers.
To date, James has played 993 career total games and is in his 14th NBA season. Olajuwon, by comparison, took 18 seasons and 1,238 games to reach his points total. He spent the majority of his career with the Houston Rockets and retired in 2002.
