After the beatdown delivered by the Los Angeles Clippers last night on their home court, the Cleveland Cavaliers travel to Chicago for the second game of a back-to-back. LeBron James will no doubt enjoy getting to see his good friend Dwyane Wade, even if it is time for him to pay up on their bet. Chicago, for their part, has started the season quite well, currently holding down the No. 3 spot in the Eastern Conference standings. This won’t be an easy game for the Cavs, but after losing two in a row by an average of 18 points I’d expect them to press hard for a victory tonight.
Who? Cleveland Cavaliers (13-4) vs. Chicago Bulls (10-7)
When? 8:00 pm
Where? United Center, Chicago, IL
Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade have been playing really well so far this year. Butler is a fringe MVP candidate so far, with 25.6 points per game, 6.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.6 steals and just 2.1 turnovers to go along with a true shooting percentage of 61.8. Wade has contributed another 18.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.6 steals, 0.7 blocks and just 2.1 turnovers in just over 30 minutes per game, although he’s been less efficient than Butler with just 53.4 percent true shooting. But high volume on average efficiency is just fine considering the turnovers are limited and and the Bulls have been the best offensive rebounding team in the league.
Defensively, Chicago tries to force tough shots and avoid fouling, but they don’t force many turnovers and they are a bit vulnerable on the defensive boards. Overall, I think the Cleveland offense matches up well here.
Fear the Sword fearless prediction: Cavs get back on track with a hard-fought 105-102 victory.
