Cleveland Cavaliers rookie Kay Felder finally got a chance to play on Wednesday while on assignment with the Canton Charge. And, man, did he take full advantage.
In his first appearance with the Charge, the Cavs’ D-League affiliate, Felder got the start at point guard next to Quinn Cook. In 37 minutes - a quarter of the total he’s played with the Cavs - Felder scored a game-high 33 points on 12-26 shooting in addition to dishing out seven assists and pulling down seven rebounds. Canton ultimately won by a final score of 124-94 against the Greensboro Swarm with Cook adding 32 points of his own.
This was admittedly against lesser competition - although the swarm have the likes of Archie Goodwin and Aaron Harrison on the roster - but it was good to see Felder get to play and have some on-court success. He hasn’t played much with the Cavs, but due to the roster being currently full, he could still be sometime Tyronn Lue turns to if minutes at point guard need to be filled.
