The Cavs seem to be taking care of business against the Los Angeles Lakers tonight, but the storyline has changed from Kobe Bryant to an injury for Kevin Love. A left shoulder injury, according to the Cavs, that will keep him from returning tonight.
He left the game in considerable discomfort and it's the same shoulder that was hurt by Kelly Olynyk in last season's playoffs. He was not moving his arm. It came after bumping it on a postup play. I'm not a doctor, but I'm told that dislocated shoulders are more likely after it's happened once. We really have no idea what the situation here and probably won't know more until tomorrow after a potential MRI.
This would be a major blow for the Cavs if he were to miss as much time as he did from the Olynyk injury, but there still is a bit of time before the playoffs get going. We will keep you updated moving forward. In the meantime,Tristan Thompson and Anderson Varejao figure to see more minutes.
UPDATE:
League source tells ESPN that upon initial examination, Cavs do not believe Love's shoulder injury to be major: "Most likely he'll be fine"
