All-Star Weekend: Open thread for Three Point Shootout and Dunk contest

Discuss Saturday night's events with fellow Cavs fans

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

This is sort of a weird All-Star weekend for the Cavs. They have the best record in the Eastern Conference, so the coaching staff is there to handle practices and the game on Sunday night. Despite this, their head coach has been in charge for less than a month. And even though the team has the best record in the conference, they have just one All-Star, and they have no one competing in any of the skill competitions on Saturday.

Kyrie Irving has won the three point contest and been MVP of the game, and he's in Los Angeles. Kevin Love hurt his shoulder and might not be available to play, but he wasn't asked. He's played in the game multiple times. J.R. Smith basically begged to be allowed into the three point contest, and the NBA ignored him. Its okay. It doesn't really matter at the end of the day. Maybe it's motivation, maybe it's not.

Either way, it's a slow night for the Cavs but a fun night for the league. Discuss it here with some friends.
