LeBron James to rest against Mavericks, Iman Shumpert and Tristan Thompson to start

Some good news, and some good news

Jeff Swinger-USA TODAY Sports

If you're planning on attending tonight's game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Cleveland Cavaliers, I apologize for this post. Tyronn Lue announced in his pregame press conference that LeBron James will rest. He confirmed that James should be available for both of the weekend games in Florida.

Now, if you paid a lot of money to attend tonight's game, this is a bummer. But the Cavs are still the East's top seed, and this would seem to be a nice time to get James some rest off a West Coast road trip. It could also mean more time for Channing Frye and Iman Shumpert. Both seem to be playing well of late, and both need more opportunity. It's also a time for Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving to hopefully a bit more chemistry. And hey, perhaps LeBron can get some rest.

The other good news is that Tristan Thompson is starting in place of Timofey Mozgov. I'm not sure if this is a long term change, but the Cavs have not been getting out to great starts, and have struggled in Mozgov minutes in general this season. We're running out of time for him to figure it out, and Thompson needs consistent minutes. It was an uneven performance for Tristan on Monday night after his minutes seemed to get moved around.

Shumpert will fill in for LeBron, Tristan for Mozgov. See you in the game thread.
