LeBron James has a close relationship with his first high school coach, Keith Dambrot. Dambrot coached James in his first two years at St. Vincent-St, Mary High Schol in Akron before becoming an assistant for the Akron Zips men's basketball team. He took over as Zips head coach in 2004.
Dambrot's Zips beat the Ohio Bobcats 91-76 last night and clinched the Mid-American Conference title and the top seed in next week's MAC's tournament. LeBron, in turn, took to Instagram to honor his former coach.
Coincidentally, last night was LeBron James bobblehead night at the James A. Rhodes Arena in Akron. It was the second in a three-part giveaway series. First up was Dru Joyce III, a former Zip and friend/teammate of James', and next up is Romeo Travis, another former Zip and friend/teammate of LeBron's.
