The Warriors won 73 games. The Spurs didn't lose a home game until the final Sunday of the season. And while Bovada gives each team a better shot of winning the NBA Finals than the Cleveland Cavaliers, that doesn't mean it's impossible, and it wouldn't exactly qualify as a Cinderella story, either.
I'm not much of a gambler, but Bovada lists the top team's odds as such:
Odds to win 2016 NBA Championship
Golden State Warriors 2/3
San Antonio Spurs 15/4
Cleveland Cavaliers 4/1
Los Angeles Clippers 28/1
The Cavs are the overwhelming favorite to make it out of the Eastern Conference:
Conference Odds
Cleveland Cavaliers 5/13
Toronto Raptors 5/1
Atlanta Hawks 14/1
Boston Celtics 14/1
Miami Heat 14/1
I know some of you guys get really into this, so you'll have to tell me what you think the good bets are in the comments. After the Raptors, things really fall off in the East. I'd guess that has less to do with the teams individually, and more in the fact that it's hard to find ways to separate them. It's part of why the Eastern Conference Playoffs will actually be fun this year.
In the meantime, the Cavs aren't the favorites, but Vegas isn't treating them like an also-ran. We will see.
