Tyronn Lue says LeBron James is the Shaq of guards and forwards

Tyronn Lue says LeBron is like a certain former teammate who once broke a backboard with sheer force.

At the Cleveland Cavaliers' shootaround today in Detroit, head coach Tyronn Lue compared LeBron James' physicality to that of retired NBA great Shaquille O'Neal.

"I think he's the Shaq of guards and forwards," Lue said per ESPN's video. "I think he's Shaq-like. He's so strong and so physical when he goes to the basket that guys bounce off of him. Those are still fouls, but he doesn't get the call because he's so strong and so physical."

Lue's description of LeBron is pretty spot-on. Only a few wings in the league - Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green - have the needed speed and physicality to stick with LeBron when he's going downhill at full speed. And while the fouls bit is definitely a little bit of Lue caping for his star player, he's not totally wrong on that front.

Perhaps LeBron will bring down the backboard like Shaq did several times while an active player. Probably not, but we can dream.
