Covering SLAM Magazine is something of a right of passage for basketball players. When you make the cover, it' a sign that you've made it.
It shouldn't be a surprise, then, that to be top draft prospect Ben Simmons is on the current issue of SLAM. And his cover also happens to look a lot like the a 2003 cover featuring Cavaliers forward LeBron James back when a teenage LeBron covered their High School All-Americans issue.
Ben Simmons is on the cover of SLAM. There's a good reason why it might look familiar. https://t.co/o5a3l4iRvh pic.twitter.com/ahiZEaj7cD

There are a few differences in the covers - some of fonts are different colors and Simmons' tag line is 'Heir to the Throne' while LeBron's was 'LeBron is Ready to Rule' - but the idea behind both covers are the same.
And if there's one other difference, it's that Simmons looks a bit skinner than LeBron did. Still, getting this type of cover treatment from SLAM is pretty cool for the player who many expect to be the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.
