Prior to signing this deal, Blatt had received interest from the New York Knicks and Sacramento Kings about their head coaching vacancies. He, however, was passed over for Jeff Hornacek and Dave Joerger in New York and Sacramento respectively.
This also could mean the end of Blatt's time in the NBA. He may have been able to nab an assistant job or just wait a year for another head coaching job to open up. Instead, he is headed back to Europe and the Euroleague where he had tremendous success before coming stateside.
Luke Harangody, Scottie Wilbekin and Semih Erden are some of the notable players who suited up for Darüşşafaka last season. As it stands, Blatt's career record as an NBA head coach is 123-83, He made the Finals in the first year, but was fired 41 games into the 2015-16 season.
