Andrew Bogut lights into those calling Kevin Love "soft" for missing Game 3

Kevin Love faced some criticism for missing Game 3 of the NBA Finals with a concussion. Andrew Bogut thinks those critics are idiots.

Kevin Love was forced to miss Game 3 of the NBA Finals due to a concussion suffered after an elbow to the head from Harrison Barnes in Game 2. Missing the game, which, of course was not Kevin Love's decision, caused some to criticize the Cavaliers forward for being "soft."

Andrew Bogut thinks that's nonsense, however.

"There's probably people calling Kevin Love soft and those people are idiots," Bogut said. "You don't mess around with the brain."

"You can be a hero now in the NBA Finals in 2016 and in 2021 you will be sucking food through a straw," Bogut said. "And you won't give a [expletive] about what you did in 2016."

Bogut, of course, has a point. It's almost hard to have much of an opinion on this sort of topic, because the only folks that don't care about concussion protocols are pretty willfully ignorant at this point. It was sort of a bad look that Kevin Love was back in the game in the first place after getting hit, and I'm glad the team took the choice out of Love's hands to play in Game 3.

Love is set to play in Game 4, potentially in a bench role, and we'll see if there are any lingering effects. On balance, though, sitting Love was the right choice, and it's a good thing that Andrew Bogut spoke out. The more athletes shape the conversation in a more positive way, the more the conversation will change.
