Cavaliers trade Sasha Kaun to the 76ers

The Cavs are clearing money from the bottom of the roster.

The Cavaliers are still making moves in the margins. Moving Sasha Kaun's guaranteed deal to eternally under the salary floor 76ers in exchange for the draft rights to Chukwudiebere Maduabum. Adrian Wojnarowaki of the Vertical was the first to report the news.

Madaubum, a 6'9" forward originally drafted by the Lakers will most likely never play for the Cavs. This is all about the Sixers taking cash from the Cavs to take on Kaun's deal, giving the Cavs and extra roster spot to use without committing them to Kaun's salary in a buyout or waiver.

Kaun, for his part, will probably be done in the NBA. His reason for being on the Cavs was never really fully explained, as his play didn't seem to warrant a spot. Ties to David Blatt and Timofey Mozgov are the most obvious reasons. He has previously said he was done with basketball altogether, but then came over to the Cavs, so career may resume again in Russia.
