Sunday marks a big test for Team USA. Not only are they coming two back-to-back middling performances against Australia and Serbia, but the Americans are facing a France team that has found its footing after losing their first game against the Aussies. The French also have a number of NBA talents in Nic Batum, Tony Parker and Rudy Gobert that puts them on a talent level similar to that of Spain.

Today’s contest also wraps up group play. With a win, the Americans will finish atop Group A and have comfortable seeding heading into the knockout round. If France wins, the Americans, Australians and French will be in a three-way tie atop Group A and then things get a little dicey.

Ultimately, Team USA is the favorite to win today and to win the gold. They also are already in the quarterfinals and don’t have to win today. But their status as favorites isn’t quite as clear as it was two games ago.
