LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are headed to Los Angeles for some preseason training.
According to Joe Vardon on cleveland.com, LeBron will assemble the Cavs in September for workouts in L.A. where he and other Cavaliers like Kevin Love are currently is living.. This is the third straight year that James has hosted workouts prior to the season. Last year, they were in Miami and the year before, they were in Independence, Ohio near the Cavs’ training facility.
The workout will then lead into the beginning of training camp near the end of September.
Most - if not all - currently signed Cavaliers are expected to attend that includes Kyrie Irving, who is currently playing for Team USA at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Per the report, members of the Cavs support staff are also expected to attend.
The lone question mark about the workouts is if J.R. Smith will attend. Smith is currently a free agent, but will likely be back with the team. But because he has not signed, it doesn’t seem likely that he’ll attend if not under contract in the next few weeks.
Last season, forward Tristan Thompson did not attend the workouts while he negotiated his contract with the Cavaliers.
