Kay Felder praised in NBA rookie survey

The rest of the 2016 Draft class had a lot of positive things to say about Kay Felder.

If the 2016 NBA Draft class is correct, big things might be ahead of Cleveland Cavaliers rookie guard Kay Felder.

The NBA released its 2016 Rookie Survey on Tuesday. As voted on by his fellow rookies, Felder tied for third in the ‘Biggest Steal’ category, tied for fourth in ‘Most Athletic’, tied for fifth in ‘Best Defender’ and fifth in ‘Best Playmaker’. Felder also received votes for in the ‘funniest rookie’ category.

Now, this survey isn’t always the best indicator of future success - see 76ers center Jahil Okafor being voted as the player most likely to the have ‘best career’ last season - but it’s cool to see Felder get some love from his draft classmates. He’s not the most known player among general fans, but his fellow players seem to be award of who he is and what he can do.

Felder also might actually get the chance to back this praise up. If Mo Williams does retire, Felder could be the Cavaliers’ backup point guard from day one. Cleveland could elect to sign a veteran point guard, but it is totally possible that the Cavs give Felder the job from day one.

Either way, it’s a good sign that the Cavs have a young player that is getting some love from his peers. At the moment, it’s hard for Cleveland to find young, talented players to develop. If this survey does serve as a sign of things to come, the Cavs will have something special in Felder.
