Kay Felder assigned to Canton Charge

He’ll play Saturday for Canton in Los Angeles.

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kay Felder is set to get some extra work in the D-League.

The team announced in a press released that Felder has been assigned to the Canton Charge ahead of the team’s Saturday game against the Los Angeles Defenders.

Felder played one game earlier this season with the Charge. On Dec. 28 against the Greensboro Swarm, Felder started at point guard and scored a game-high 33 points to go along with seven assists in a Canton win. For the Cavs, he has appeared in 22 games and is averaging 5.6 points.

The Cavs’ current road trip is what allows Felder to play with the Charge on Saturday. Cleveland is off until Monday when they play the Golden State Warriors. Because Felder plays limited minutes with the Cavs, having him play Saturday is a chance to get him extra work without burning out a key part of the rotation.

On Friday against the Sacramento Kings, Felder played just 1 minute and scored 2 points. It’s expected that he’ll be formally recalled and practice with the team on Sunday.
