Richard Jefferson will not play in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings, the team announced. The team says it’s due to a personal matter and that his status will be updated accordingly. It is not yet known when he will return to the team.
Per Joe Vardon of cleveland.com, Jefferson is having a baby boy. That’s not exactly a secret, as Jefferson openly disclosed that information on ‘Road Trippin’ with RJ & Channing’, a podcast Jefferson hosts with teammate Channing Frye and Fox Sports Ohio personality Allie Clifton.
With Jefferson out, veteran forward (and 61.8 percent three-point shooter) James Jones saw first half playing time he normally wouldn’t. When Jefferson does return, its expected that he’ll return to his normal spot in the rotation.
On the season, Jefferson has appeared in 43 games, including five starts. He is averaging 5.1 points and 2.3 rebounds in 19.7 minutes per game.
