We’ll finally get a chance to see some of the new pieces for the Cavaliers in game-action on Monday night for the Cavaliers annual Wine and Gold scrimmage.
Unfortunately, cleveland.com’s Joe Vardon is reporting that we won’t see LeBron James there:
"It just wouldn't be smart," Lue said. He also said James was day to day.
Lue said James stepped on a teammate's foot while dribbling in transition during Wednesday night's practice and turned his ankle.
Vardon reports that James didn’t seem to look limited walking around practice on Saturday, but didn’t practice.
This makes sense, even though it’s disappointing. It’s not a stunner, but James is the Cavaliers most important asset, and playing with fire at all is just not a wise move.
With that said, the Cavaliers will hope that he gets healthy soon. Cleveland has so many new bodies, so they’re going to need to develop chemistry early and often. For now, they’ll have to do so without James.
