The Cleveland Cavaliers, having lost to the Brooklyn Nets, know that the Nets might not be as bad as the Cavs hope. That includes LeBron James.
“It might not even be that good of a pick,” James said, per cleveland.com.
LeBron also says he’s not paying attention to the odds that the Nets pick will be No. 1, saying it’s too early in the season, per cleveland.com.
"When it gets closer I'll probably look," he said.
The reason the Cavs prioritized the Nets pick in the Kyrie Irving trade was because it fall No. 1, or close to it, in the same summer LeBron could leave again. And if James does stay, the pick could allow the Cavs nab a young star to pair with him or to flip it like they did with Andrew Wiggins. If it’s not a ultimately a high pick, that’s a problem.
It’s also worth noting that LeBron was likely annoyed after how last night’s game played out. But the Nets are showing they have some fight in them this year that could keep them from being one of the league’s very worst teams.
